WATERFORD, Conn. – The Jumbo women's cross country team placed third out of 25 teams at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday led again by senior Natalie Bettez.

Tufts clocked a total time of 1:51:18 and collected a score of 82 in their third-place finish for the six-kilometer race. Middlebury finished first scoring a 67 and finishing in 1:51:08. Dickinson scored a 72 on Saturday to finish second. Coast Guard sophomore Kaitlyn Mooney won the event with a time of 21:09 flat.
Bettez finished third overall and was the top Jumbo finisher with a 21:23.2 time. This was the fourth time this season that Bettez has finished as Tufts' top finisher. Junior Lydia Heely placed 11th overall clocking a time of 22:15.6, second for Tufts. Freshman Anna Slager (22:29.6) and senior Kelsey Tierney (22:31.8) finished 20th and 21st respectively to round out the Jumbos in the top 25 overall.
Senior Julia Noble placed 27th overall clocking a 22:38.5 to be the Jumbos' fifth scorer. Fellow seniors Olivia Barnett (22:53.6) and Caitlin Porrazzo (23:06.3) rounded out the Jumbo seven finishing 36th and 48th overall.
Senior Jennifer Jackson and junior Nicole Kerrigan also finished in the top 60. Sophomores Olivia Martin, Alexandra Wolf, and Melissa Rowland clocked in top 100 overall times for the Jumbos. This was the fourth time this season that Tufts has finished in the top three at an event.
Tufts will next host in two weeks the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship on Saturday, October 27 at Franklin Park in Boston.
