MEDFORD - Tufts Volleyball was selected to host an NCAA Division III Regional that will be played Friday through Sunday (November 11-13) at Cousens Gymnasium.
The Jumbos (24-3) will face Maine Maritime Academy (22-8) on Friday at 8 pm. The other Friday matches include Springfield College (27-5) against Endicott College (22-11) at 12:30 pm, MIT (28-4) facing Framingham State University (22-11) at 3 pm and the University of Massachusetts-Boston (28-4) versus Johnson & Wales University (33-0) at 5:30 pm.
The Springfield-Endicott and MIT-Framingham winners will meet in the semi-finals on Saturday at 1:30 pm. The UMass Boston-Johnson and Wales winner will play the Tufts-Maine Maritime winner on Saturday at 4 pm.
Sunday's Regional final will start at 1 pm.
Ticket prices for each day are $6 for adults and $4 for students and seniors. Tufts students are free with ID, while children under five are also free.
All seven NCAA Regional matches at Tufts' Cousens Gymnasium will be webcast at http://www.jumbocast.com/.
The eight teams at the Tufts Regional are all playing for a spot in the national quarterfinals. The final three rounds of the Championship will be held November 17-19 at the Kolf Sports Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Tufts will host an NCAA Regional for the third time. They did so at Cousens in 2008 and 2009, and won the Regional title there in 2009. The Jumbos, who finished as the NESCAC runner-up and earned an at-large berth into the NCAA's, receive their eighth national berth overall. They have an 8-7 mark overall in NCAA play.
