    Senior tri-captains Hayley Hopper and Isabel Kuhel have two more honors to add to the list. On Wednesday they were announced American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Honorable Mention All-Americans. Thursday the duo picked up New England Women’s Volleyball Association (NEWVA) First Team honors. Additionally, fellow classmate and tri-captain Jessica Ingrum joins Kuhel and Hopper in being selected to play in the NEWVA Senior Classic.

    Junior Aishvina Arus totaled 24 kills to lead 15th-ranked Clarkson University to a four-set victory over Tufts in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Stevens Institute of Technology's Canavan Arena today.

    The Tufts volleyball team hit a blistering .344 as the Jumbos won their opening match of the 2014 NCAA Div. III Tournament in dominating fashion over Springfield College. Tufts won in straight sets 25-12, 25-11, 25-15.
  • Jumbos Ready for NCAA Volleyball Tournament Play at Stevens Regional

    When senior tri-captains Hayley Hopper, Jessica Ingrum and Isabel Kuhel were freshmen, they made an appearance in the NCAA tournament. What better way to end a career than coming full circle, which the Jumbo seniors will do this weekend as they compete in the Stevens Regional Friday through Sunday with the hopes of winning the program’s second regional title and moving on to the NCAA quarterfinals hosted by Christopher Newport University on November 21.
  • Volleyball Lands Three on All-Conference Teams in Addition to Coach of the Year Nod

    Three members of the Tufts Volleyball team were selected to the NESCAC All-Conference teams for their performances this season. Senior tri-captains Hayley Hopper and Isabel Kuhel earned first team honors, while junior Maddie Kuppe notched a spot on the second team. Head Coach Cora Thompson was selected as the conference’s Coach of the Year.

    Its tournament time for a few Jumbos teams, and season opener time for a few others. The men’s soccer team and women’s volleyball team both earned at-large berths into the NCAA tournament and will be playing opening round matches this weekend. Men’s and women’s cross country will both be racing in the NCAA Regional Championships on Saturday at Williams.
  • Volleyball Selected to NCAA Tournament Field for Seventh Time

    For the seventh time in program history the Tufts volleyball team has been selected to participate in the NCAA Tournament. The Jumbos received an at-large berth into the 2014 Division III NCAA volleyball tournament and will be playing in the Stevens Regional in Hoboken, N.J. Friday through Sunday.
  • Field Hockey, Volleyball and Men's Soccer All Hoping for Ticket to NCAA Tournament

    The Tufts volleyball, field hockey and men’s soccer teams will all be keeping their fingers crossed on Sunday night and Monday, hoping to receive an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament. The field hockey bracket will be released at 10:30 pm on Sunday night. Volleyball will be announced in a NCAA.com Selection show at 11:00 am on Monday, followed by a 1:30 pm NCAA.com Selection Show for men’s soccer.

    Tufts will attempt to win its first-ever NESCAC Volleyball Championship tomorrow after coming from behind to earn a five-set win (17-25, 25-15, 19-25, 25-22, 15-12) over Bowdoin in the conference tournament semi-finals at Cousens Gym on Saturday afternoon.

    Things were back to normal for the Tufts volleyball team on Friday night, as they remained undefeated at home with a 3-0 win over Trinity in the quarterfinals of the NESCAC Tournament at Cousens Gym. The Jumbos advance to the quarterfinals for the ninth time in program history and will await the winner of the match between Bowdoin and Middlebury.

  • Volleyball to Host NESCAC Tournament With Sights Set on Conference Championship

    On October 4 the women’s volleyball team lost to local-rival MIT. And ever since then they haven’t lost a match. Currently riding a ten-game winning streak, including an undefeated stint at home in Cousens Gym this year, the team is ready and excited to host the NESCAC Tournament this Friday through Sunday.

    With playoff season here, five Jumbo teams participated in the NESCAC tournament last week. This week field hockey will play a NESCAC tournament semifinal game at Bowdoin and volleyball will host the NESCAC tournament all weekend long in Cousens Gym. Football wraps up their conference schedule with a trip up to Middlebury on Saturday. Men’s and women’s cross country competed in the NESCAC Championship race last weekend, and will compete in the ECAC Championships this weekend. The sailing team will be back on the water, as they race in the Hap Moore Trophy at Coast Guard.
  • Volleyball Secures #1 Seed in NESCAC Tournament with Win Over Middlebury

    The Middlebury volleyball team was defeated by visiting Tufts in a NESCAC matchup Saturday afternoon inside Pepin Gymnasium by scores of 25-16, 25-13, 20-25 and 25-19. Middlebury (12-11, 6-4) will be the number four seed in next weekend's NESCAC Tournament and will battle fifth-seeded Bowdoin on Friday at 8:00 p.m., while Tufts (19-7, 9-1) grabbed the top seed with today's win and will host the tournament. The Jumbos will take on eighth-seeded Trinity at 5:00 p.m.
  • Win Over Hamilton Starts Final NESCAC Weekend for Volleyball

    The Hamilton College volleyball team opened its final weekend of regular-season play with a 3-0 loss to Tufts Friday night in the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House in a match-up of teams bound for next week’s NESCAC Championship Tournament. The Jumbos, who sit atop the league standings and can clinch the top seed in the playoffs won 25-15, 25-20, 25-15.

    Tuesday begins a busy and important week for many fall sports teams. Field hockey, men’s soccer and women’s soccer all travel to Bowdoin for midweek contests before opening up NESCAC tournament play on Saturday. Football hosts Colby in their last home contest of the year while volleyball hopes to secure conference tournament hosting rights with a trip to Hamilton and Middlebury.

    The Tufts volleyball team closed out a perfect 3-0 record with a 3-0 win over Brandeis at the Hall of Fame Invitational at Amherst on Saturday evening. Senior tri-captain Isabel Kuhel was named to the All-Tournament team, finishing the weekend with 25 kills, four service aces, four solo blocks and 12 block assists.
  • Hall of Fame Invitational Play Opens with 3-0 Win for Volleyball

    The Tufts volleyball team opened up play in the Hall of Fame Invitational on Friday night, taking on Westfield State at Smith College. In a match that was delayed nearly two hours because of a power outage, the Jumbos topped the Owls 3-0.

    After a busy parents weekend and a successful weekend for many Jumbos teams, ten Jumbo teams will resume competition this week. Football looks to move to 3-2 on the season and pick up their first road win with a trip to Amherst. After picking up two big wins last week, field hockey hosts Hamilton on Saturday.

    It was a busy weekend for the Tufts volleyball team. In addition to knocking off the top-team in New England on Friday night, and downing another conference opponent on Saturday, the Jumbos participated in the NESCAC Dig Pink Weekend and honored their three senior tri-captains on Friday night. One of those senior tri-captains got another honor today, as Isabel Kuhel was named the NESCAC Player of the Week for her performance over the weekend.
  • Volleyball Gains Sole Possession of First Place in NESCAC with Win Over Amherst

    The Tufts volleyball team got on a roll on Friday night at Cousens Gym, and they picked up right where they left off Saturday afternoon, winning three hard fought sets to beat NESCAC rival Amherst, 3-0. With the win the Jumbos claim sole possession of first place in the NESCAC, with two conference matches remaining.
  • Win Over Endicott Closes Out Successful Weekend for Volleyball

    Closing out arguably the most successful weekend of their season so far, the Tufts volleyball team handed Endicott a 3-0 loss at Cousens Gym on Saturday evening. The Jumbos knocked off Williams, the topped ranked team in in the New England Women’s Volleyball Association (NEWVA) poll, on Friday night. Saturday brought wins against Amherst, ranked fifth in the NEWVA poll, and Endicott.
  • Volleyball Knocks Off Williams, 3-1, On Senior Night in Cousens Gym

    On senior night at Cousens Gym, the Tufts volleyball team rallied down a set to come back and knock off Williams, 3-1. The Ephs were in first place in the NESCAC going into the match. The Jumbos honored senior tri-captains Hayley Hopper, Isabel Kuhel and Jessica Ingrum before the match.
  • Volleyball Joins Other NESCAC Volleyball Teams in Dig Pink Weekend

    Participating in the Dig Pink Rally this weekend, Tufts volleyball will join fellow NESCAC volleyball teams in raising money and awareness for the Side-Out Foundation which helps fight breast cancer.
