Volleyball Scores Three-Set Win Over Brandeis on Opening Night of Hall of Fame Invite

Esme Nulan was an offensive leader for the Jumbos

NORTHAMPTON - The Tufts volleyball team defeated Brandeis, 3-0, on Friday night in their opening match of the Hall of Fame Invitational at Smith College. Sophomore Esme Nulan led the Jumbos with 10 kills.

The win was the third in a row for the Jumbos, as they improved to 15-7. The Judges have lost six in a row and are now 9-18. Set scores were 25-17, 25-14, 25-17. The victory was Tufts' second this season over Brandeis, including a five-set final at the Brandeis Invitational on September 7.

Nulan added three service aces as Tufts finished with seven overall. Junior Isabel Kuhel swung for seven kills with just one error in 13 attempts (.461) and was in on six blocks. Defensively, sophomore Carolina Berger led the winners with 10 digs.

For Brandeis, Liz Hood led with eight kills. Maggie Swenson served four aces as the Judges recorded nine total. Si-Si Hensley had six digs.

Tufts has matches against Wheaton (MA) and Westfield State on Saturday at the Hall of Fame tournament. Brandeis will play Trinity and Smith tomorrow.
