Women's Track & Field Competes at 1st Day of All-New England Meet

Franchesca Burgos' 10K time was a PR

HANOVER, N.H. – Senior co-captain Annalisa DeBari of the Jumbo women's outdoor track & field team qualified for the final in the 100-meter hurdles on the first day of the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Championships on Friday at Dartmouth College.

Tufts did not score on the first day of the meet Friday. Representatives from Division I, II and III in New England are at the competition.

DeBari ran 14.68 to earn the seventh of eight qualifying spot in Saturday's 1:40 p.m. final. She is one of three Division III hurdlers among the eight in tomorrow's final.

Six Jumbos overall were in action on Friday. Sophomore Julia Kissel placed 12th in the javelin throw with a 122'2" (37.23m) launch. Sophomore Nehalem Kunkle-Read ran 1:07.15 for 23rd in the 400-meter hurdles.

Tufts had three in the two distance events. Sophomore Ann Roberts ran 19:03.55 in the 5K. In the 10,000 meters, sophomore Jennifer Jackson's 39:22.45 placed her in the top 20 for all New England (18th), while senior co-captain Franchesca Burgos' 40:07.64 was a PR.

A full day of action at Dartmouth on Saturday starts at 10 a.m.
