DeBari, Toth Post National Top 15 Performances at Women's Track & Field Quad Meet

Julia Kissel threw a Tufts season-best in the javelin

MEDFORD – Senior co-captain Annalisa DeBari and sophomore Rhemi Toth both won events with national top 15 marks to lead the Tufts women's outdoor track & field team at a quad meet with MIT, Bates and RPI Saturday at Dussault Track.

MIT won the quad meet with a 212 score, followed by Tufts (186), Bates (132.5) and RPI (122.5).

DeBari ran a career-best 14.79 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles preliminaries, then won the event with a 14.97 in Saturday's final. The 14.79 is the #10 mark in Division III for the event as of 10 p.m. Saturday night.

Toth timed 2:15.55 to win the 800 meters and earn the #12 national ranking. It's her first 800 outdoors since the NESCAC meet last year and her career-best time today is almost 13 seconds faster than the 2:28.28 she ran that day.

Other Jumbos who posted team season-bests and nationally-ranked marks today include sophomore Nehalem Kunkle-Read with a 1:05.43 time in the 400-meter hurdles (currently #29 in DIII). A 122'11" (37.47m) javelin toss by sophomore Julia Kissel ranks 36th on the national performance list. Tufts also had a 4:06.36 in the 4x400-meter relay today – run by sophomore Raquel Whiting, sophomore Julia Gake, Kunkle-Read and DeBari – that is #35.

The Jumbos also received a victory in the shot put from Nkem Aduka, whose 38'0 ¾" (11.60m) was the best among 13 entries at the meet.

Jumbo field team members Jacqueline Kirk, Sydney Ladner and Evelyn Drake also had team season-best marks on Sunday. Kirk's came in the high jump, clearing 5'0 ½" (1.54m). Ladner cleared 10'2" (3.10m) for an outdoor pole vault PR. Drake's 133'8" (40.75m) hammer throw likewise was a PR.

Tufts will travel to Connecticut College for an invitational next weekend.
