Dorr and Garrido Lose in Round of 16 at NCAA Women's Tennis Doubles Tournament

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Freshmen Maggie Dorr and Caroline Garrido of the Tufts University women's tennis team lost their opening round of 16 match at the NCAA Division III Doubles Championship on Friday.

Paired against Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico and Defne Olcay from Emory University, the Jumbo duo was defeated 6-1, 6-3. The match was played outdoors at Kalamazoo College's Stowe Stadium.

During the regular season when the Tufts and Emory teams met in Medford, Dorr and Garrido had defeated Gonzalez-Rico and Olcay 8-4. However, today the Eagles' tandem earned some revenge by eliminating the Tufts pair from the NCAA Tournament.

This is the third time in the last four seasons that Tufts had entered a team into the NCAA doubles competition. Dorr and Garrido finished the 2018-19 year with an 11-6 record.
