#6 Women's Tennis Sweeps NESCAC Foe Hamilton, 9-0, on Sunday

Zoe Miller had victories at No. 3 doubles and No. 4 singles

CLINTON, N.Y. - The #6 ranked Tufts University women's tennis team bounced back from a loss yesterday to take down NESCAC opponent Hamilton, 9-0, on Sunday afternoon. The match was played at the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House in Clinton.

Zoe Miller and Kat Wiley started off the dominant Jumbos afternoon with a 8-0 victory over Hamilton's Ndanu Mutisya and Katherine McNally in the No. 3 doubles match. Tufts duo Mina Karamercan and Otilia Popa then defeated Jane Haffer and Sophia Aulicino 8-3 at No. 1.

Lauren Louks and Tomo Iwasaki gave the Jumbos a 3-0 doubles advantage after the No. 2 match, taking down Continentals pair Ajla Karabegovic and Audrey Chor 8-4.

Miller kept things rolling for Tufts in singles play, beating Karabegovic 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4. Karamercan, #21 in ITA rankings. followed suit with a dominant showing at No. 1, earning a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Haffer and clinching the match for the Jumbos. Iwasaki bested Hamilton's Chor at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-1. 

Louks survived a close first set at No. 2 to take down Aulicino 7-6 (2), 6-2. The victory was Louks' second of the afternoon and fourth overall on the weekend.

Jumbos Julia Keller and Wiley closed out the match at the No. 6 and 5 matches, respectively. Keller had a strong showing at No. 6, defeating McNally 6-0, 6-0. Wiley finished things off at No. 5 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Mutisya.

Coach Kate Bayard's Jumbo squad returns home to face off against NESCAC opponent and #8 ranked Amherst on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. Hamilton returns to the court on Wednesday when they will square off with William Smith at 4:30 p.m.
