Women's Squash Earns 8-1 Victory Over Saint Lawrence University on Sunday

Radhika Joshi lost just eight points in her victory at #8.

CAMBRIDGE – The Tufts University women's squash team earned its third victory of the season by an 8-1 score against Saint Lawrence University on Sunday in a match played at Harvard.

With the win, the #17 Jumbos improved to 3-2 overall. The Saints, ranked #27 by the College Squash Association, fell to 0-6.

Jumbo players posted six of their eight wins in straight games. The most convincing victories for Tufts were in the fourth and eighth matches. Sophomore Megan Chen won 11-3, 11-0, 11-5 against Saint Lawrence's Starnisha Ramsey at #4. Tufts junior Radhika Joshi defeated Samantha Sambrook in the eighth match 11-2, 11-3, 11-3. Jumbo senior co-captain Catherine Shanahan and freshman Beverly Vo gave up just 10 points in their victories at #3 and #9, respectively.

Three matches went to four games and the Jumbos took two of them. At #2, freshman Isa Schneider built a two-game lead and went on to an 11-4, 11-8, 8-11, 11-3 win. In the seventh match, Tufts sophomore Natalie Bartlett was tied at one game apiece before winning the final two to defeat Saint Alexandra Limas (11-9, 10-12, 11-2, 11-5).

The lone Saint Lawrence victory came in the #1 match, another four-gamer where Sanna Koivumaki defeated Tufts senior co-captain Clarie Davidson 11-7, 4-11, 14-12, 11-5.

The Jumbos finish their first semester of action with a match against Bowdoin College at Harvard on December 7. The Saints are off until December 6 at Drexel.
