Women's Squash Shuts Out Bowdoin 9-0 in Fall Semester Finale

Chista Irani did not lose any of her three matches this semester

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The #19 Tufts University women's squash team closed its first semester of action with a resounding 9-0 victory at 26th-ranked Bowdoin College on Saturday.

The win stopped a two-game skid and left the Jumbos with a 3-2 record at the end of the semester. Bowdoin fell to 0-3 with their third straight 9-0 loss.

In six of Tufts' nine victories today the Jumbos lost just single-digit games to their Polar Bear opponents. Most dominant was sophomore Rachel Windreich's 11-0, 11-1, 11-0 win in the fourth match.

Senior Sahana Karthik gave up just five games in her 11-2, 11-2, 11-1 victory in the seventh match, as did senior co-captain Chista Irani at #9 (11-3, 11-2, 11-0). Sophomore Chloe Kantor had an 11-0 win in the first game of her #8 match before finishing off the victory with 11-5 and 11-2 scores.

The most competitive match was at the top where Jumbo junior co-captain Claire Davidson defeated Bowdoin's Clio Bersani 11-4, 11-8, 11-8.

Davidson, sophomore Julie Yeung, senior Zarena Jafry, Windreich, freshman Megan Chen, freshman Diya Sanghi, Karthik and Irani have all won three matches for Tufts as the season hits the semnester break.

The Jumbos are off until resuming their season in a tri-match at Yale with McGill on January 7. Bowdoin hosts Wesleyan on January 9 when their season picks back up again.
