Jumbo senior co-captain Catharine Greer was named to the District I team for NCAA Division III players.

    MEDFORD – Three Jumbos teams will begin their quests for a NESCAC Championship this weekend with Quarterfinal games on Saturday. Twelfth ranked men’s soccer will host Connecticut College on Kraft Field at 12:00 pm, while #9 field hockey travels to Amherst for a 1:00 pm start time and women’s soccer heads back up to Brunswick, Maine to take on Bowdoin at 12:30 pm.

Jess Capone and Brooke Fortin, the team scoring leaders, notched two goals apiece, while Mariah Harvey-Brown tallied her seventh assist of the season as the Jumbos won their first NESCAC contest since their 3-1 victory over Colby back on September 13th.

Football will look to put another tally in the win column as they host Williams on Saturday.

    Freshman Mariah Harvey-Brown (Mill Valley, Calif.) tallied a goal in each half to power Tufts University over Lesley University 2-1 tonight in non-conference action at Edward Field. The Jumbos, who were ranked No. 5 in New England in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America regional poll, move to 5-1-1. The Lynx, who saw their regular season home unbeaten streak snapped at 23 matches, fall to 7-3-0 on the year.

    In a game that featured two teams who had given up just three goals between them all season, the Lord Jeffs were able to convert twice against the Jumbos on their way to handing Tufts their first loss on the year. It was the first time Tufts had let in more than one goal in a game. Amherst avenged their 2-1 loss to Tufts one year ago.

    The 4-0-1 Jumbos put together a dominant performance against a numbers depleted 2-5 Rams team for their fourth win and third clean sheet of the year. Brooke Fortin recorded a hat trick and Allie Weiller added two of her own, while also dishing out three assists in the 10-0 victory.

    It’s a busy week for Tufts Athletics. Many teams will be in action this week to prepare for a busy Homecoming weekend on Saturday, September 27. Coming off a win against another #10 team, field hockey will travel to UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday before hosting Amherst on Saturday for Homecoming. The Homecoming opponent for football is different than the rest, as the Jumbos will host Bates on Saturday for a 1:00 pm kickoff.
  • Jumbos and Cardinals Battle to a 1-1 Draw in Double OT Action

    For the second year in a row, 3-0-1 Tufts and 0-4-1 Wesleyan needed more than 100 minutes to decide the game's fate. This year's double overtime contest ended in a 1-1 stalemate, as both goals came off the feet of Wesleyan players. Hannah Stone recorded her first goal of the year, while the Cardinals helped the Jumbos get on the board with an own goal.

Fifth ranked field hockey has a mid week contest with NESCAC rival Wesleyan before traveling down to Virginia to take on #7 ranked Christopher Newport.

    Senior Alex Farris gave Tufts some early momentum with a goal just 2:17 into the contest and the Jumbos went on to their third straight win to open the 2014 season, 3-1, at Colby College in NESCAC women's soccer Saturday.
