MEDFORD – Senior Dakota Adamec of the No. 8 Tufts University Women's Lacrosse team was named New England Small Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday.
Adamec, a senior attack from Katonah, N.Y., totaled nine points after scoring seven goals and dishing out two assists in three Jumbo victories last week. She scored on three of five free-position shots and also won four draw controls.
The senior began the week by netting a hat-trick in a hard-fought 8-7 road victory against No. 13 College of New Jersey on Wednesday night. She attacked the Lion defense with five shots on goal and had seven shots in total. Her two second-half goals helped the Jumbos earn the close victory. The senior followed that performance with two goals and two assists for a team-high four points in Thursday's 12-6 Jumbo conference win at No. 9 Trinity. She tallied two goals and an assist in the second half when Tufts pulled away after leading 4-2 at intermission. She finished the week with a two-goal outing in the Jumbos'17-5 non-conference win against Endicott on Sunday. She scored twice during an early five-goal Jumbo run that produced a 6-2 lead.
Adamec is third on the team in points with 19 and has 16 goals through seven games this season. The 2018 NESCAC Player of the Year, she has scored at least two goals in all seven games this season. She is tied with junior Lily Baldwin with 19 won draw controls and is five for 10 on free-position attempts.
This is the the third Player of the Week honor for Adamec in her career, but the first time this year a Jumbo has been selected. Adamec got the nod on March 5 last season after tying a program record with eight goals against Hamilton. She was also named Player of the Week on April 26 during her freshman campaign after scoring six goals in two games.
The senior currently has 114 career goals to go with 32 assists for 146 total points. In her career she has earned First Team All-NESCAC honors along with being selected to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Region Team and an IWLCA All-American.
The Jumbos next game will be on Saturday at 1 pm when they host NESCAC opponent Connecticut College on Bello Field.
