Co-ed Sailing 14th at Coast Guard's Danmark Trophy

Sam Merson skippered Tufts' B dinghy in Connecticut.

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Tufts Co-ed Sailing finished 14th out of 20 teams at the annual Danmark Trophy hosted by Coast Guard over the weekend.

In ideal conditions on the Thames River, 18 races were contested in two divisions. Tufts had finishes totaling to 204 in A's and 217 in B's for a 421 final.

The Jumbos' A dinghy featured sophomore skipper Charlie Hibben with senior Emma Clutterbuck and freshman Harper McKerrow was crews. Clutterbuck crewed the first through fifth and 14th through 18th starts. McKerrow substituted in the sixth through 13th starts. Tufts finished strong with two seconds and a third in the final five races.

In B's, Tufts sailed sophomore skipper Sam Merson with junior Juliana Testa and senior Emily Calandrella as crews. Testa crewed the first race and the seventh through 12th. Calandrella took over in the second through sixth and 13th through 18th races. A fourth-place in the 15th start of the regatta was Tufts' best B finish of the weekend.

Harvard won the Danmark Trophy with a 130-69-199 scoring line.
