BOSTON – The Tufts University co-ed sailing team had a good third place out of 11 finish at the Oberg Trophy hosted by Northeastern University on Saturday.

With good conditions on Saturday 11 races were held in all three divisions. Due to the productive day, Sunday racing was canceled and Saturday's results stood as final.

Tufts compiled finishes totaling to 54 in A division, 48 in B division and 52 in C division for a 154 total. The Jumbos were five behind runner-up Vermont, who posted a 149 team score. Tufts was 12 in front of fourth-place Boston University (166).

Boston College won the 2019 Oberg Trophy with a 49-39-28-116 scoring line.

Tufts' B team of freshman skipper Alex Fasolo with freshman crew George Sidamon-Eristoff finished second in the division. They won the fifth and 10th races and were the runner-up in the eighth start.

For C's, Jumbo sophomore skipper Austen Freda and junior crew Margaret Veltri placed fourth in the division. They had thirds in the third and seventh races.

Freshman skipper Samuel Merson and junior crew Emily Calandrella were fifth in A division. They won the 11th race and had thirds in the first and sixth starts.

On Saturday, morning rain gave way to one of the nicest days of the spring in Boston so far for this year's Spring Oberg. Winds were light to medium for most of the day out of the Southwest, topping out with puffs in the low teens by late afternoon.
