No. 14 Men’s Tennis Improves to 2-0 with 6-0 Triumph over the College of the Desert Sunday

PALM DESERT, Calif. – The No. 14 Tufts University men's tennis team posted an unblemished performance during a 6-0 triumph over the College of the Desert on Sunday in Palm Desert, California, as the Jumbos improved to 2-0 on the young season. 

Jason Scanlon did not lose a single game in No. 3 singles action.

Eight Jumbos competed during the event, as juniors Zain Ali and Danny Coran did not waste any time making their presence felt in No. 2 doubles, defeating freshmen Eleazar Vazquez-Celis and Jakob Dvorken, 8-2. 

In No. 3 doubles, senior captain Austin Bendetson and sophomore Ross Kamin were perfect, shutting out freshmen Miguel Nolasco and Erik Uribe, 8-0. 

Freshman Jason Scanlon swept Uribe, 6-0, 6-0, in No. 3 singles, and then freshman Ethan Bershtein made his debut this spring for the Jumbos, outlasting Nolasco, 6-1, 6-1 during No. 4 singles. 

Sophomore Ethan Chen led the way in No. 1 singles, outperforming Dvorken, 6-2, 6-1. During No. 2 singles action, freshman Benjamin Biswas fought his way to a narrow 6-4 victory in first-set action, and then posted a 6-2 victory during the second set.
