  • Jumbos Lead Academic All-NESCAC Honorees with 132 Spring Athletes

    The 2015 spring sports teams at Tufts University placed 132 athletes on the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Academic Teams released today. That's more than any of the other 11 schools in the conference.

  • Gupte, Telkedzhiev Earns Spots on NESCAC Men's Tennis All-Conference Second Team

    Continuing a season which was the Tufts Men's Tennis program's best in years, freshman Rohan Gupte and junior Nik Telkedzhiev were voted to the NESCAC All-Conference second team for 2015. The two players receiving All-NESCAC is the most for Tufts since 2007.
  • Williams Ousts Men's Tennis from NESCAC Championship With 5-0 Opening Round Victory

    Williams College advanced to the NESCAC Men's Tennis semi-finals with a 5-0 win over fourth-seeded Tufts (8-8) on Proctor Courts at Middlebury College Friday. The fifth-seeded Ephs (11-9) will take on top-seeded Amherst at 11:00 am on Saturday morning.
  • Upstart Men's Tennis Team Looking for First NESCAC Tournament Win

    The Tufts University men's tennis team has not won a match in the NESCAC Championship tournament since the format was changed prior to the 2005-06 season. They will look to change that fact tomorrow when they face Williams College in the opening round of the 2015 conference tournament at Middlebury College.
  • This Week in Tufts Athletics: April 27 - May 3

    It’s tournament time in Medford. Men’s and women’s lacrosse both hit the road this week to play in the semifinals and finals of the NESCAC Tournament. The softball team hosts the NESCAC Tournament on Spicer Field this weekend, and the men’s tennis team will travel to Middlebury to play in the NESCAC Tournament up north.
  • Men's Tennis Edged by #8 Bowdoin in Regular Season Finale Friday Afternoon

    The #30 Tufts men’s tennis team traveled up to #8 Bowdoin on Friday to close out their regular season schedule, and it came down to a three set match at No. 5 singles to determine a winner. After falling behind in doubles play, the Jumbos came back winning in the first through third singles positions. But, it wasn’t enough as the comeback fell short at No. 5 singles, and the Jumbos were edged by the Polar Bears, 5-4.
  • Fifth Win In a Row for Men's Tennis With Win Over Bates

    The #30 Tufts men’s tennis team made it five in a row on Wednesday afternoon with a 7-2 win over visiting NESCAC rival and #20 ranked Bates on the Voute Tennis Courts. The Jumbos swept singles play and then took four of six singles matches to earn their fourth conference win of the season.

    Jumbos across all sports had a successful week last week, and they will look to do the same thing this week. Men’s and women’s track and field will compete in the NESCAC Championships. Men’s and women’s lacrosse finish up their regular seasons on Wednesday and begin conference tournament play on Saturday.

    Capping a stellar three-day run in the best way imaginable, the Tufts men's tennis team ended a 25-year losing streak to Williams College with a 6-3 win over the Ephs in a NESCAC match at Voute Courts on Sunday afternoon.

    The #30 Tufts men's tennis team started a busy day with a hard-fought 8-1 victory over #32 Washington & Lee University in a match that started Sunday morning at 10 am on Voute Courts. Despite the score, the majority of the matches were played tightly.

  • Second Ranked Emory Edges Men's Tennis on Saturday Afternoon

    The Tufts men’s tennis team took on second ranked Emory on Saturday morning at Middlebury College. The #30 ranked Jumbos were down 2-1 after doubles play, and weren’t able to pull off a comeback, getting edged by the Eagles, 5-4.
  • Middlebury Hands Men's Tennis Friday Afternoon Setback

    The sixth-ranked Middlebury men's tennis team improved to 4-0 in the NESCAC and 13-2 overall with a 6-2 league victory Friday afternoon over visiting Tufts (3-5, 0-3) in a match played inside Duke Nelson Recreation Center. The Panthers, who move to a perfect 5-0 at home, will return to the courts for a 10:00 a.m. match Sunday when they host second-ranked Emory.

  • Men's Tennis Edged by Trinity 5-4 in Wednesday NESCAC Tennis Action

    The Trinity College Bantams rallied back from a 3-0 deficit after doubles play to record a 5-4 triumph over the visiting Tufts University Jumbos in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's tennis action this afternoon. In a six-plus hour match indoors, the No. 22-ranked Bantams improve to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the NESCAC with their third victory in a row, while the No. 23-ranked Jumbos fall to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the league with their third consecutive setback.

    The Brandeis University men's tennis team, ranked #35 in Division III, defeated a team ranked ahead of them for the first time this season today, as the Judges rode a double sweep to a 6-3 win over 23rd-ranked Tufts University. Brandeis improves to 5-7 on the season, while Tufts falls to 3-2.

    It’s a busy week for Tufts Athletics. Thats for sure. Hopefully this is the week that temperatures will warm up and all Jumbos teams will be able to play! Baseball looks to open up on their home field for the first time this spring, while softball will hope to do the same. Men’s and women’s lacrosse are looking for the snow to be completely gone on Bello as they both have contests there this week. Men’s and women’s track will run again this weekend, as will men’s and women’s tennis both start their conference schedules this week.

    A busy week of play at the Poulson Tennis Center for the Cal Lutheran men’s tennis team concluded today with a tough 6-3 loss to Tufts. The Kingsmen went 3-3 overall during the last six days.
  • Jumbos Pick Up Second Win of Spring Break with 8-1 Topping of College of the Desert

    The Tufts men’s tennis team picked up their second win of the spring break trip with an 8-1 win over College of the Desert on Saturday afternoon. The Jumbos only lost in the third doubles position, sweeping all six singles positions.
  • Men's Tennis Edged by #9 Pomona-Pitzer Wednesday Afternoon

    The Tufts men’s tennis team took the courts for the second time this spring, but were edged by #9 Pomona-Pitzer, 5-4, Wednesday afternoon. The Jumbos led 2-1 after doubles play, and at one time held a 4-2 advantage through singles play, but weren’t able to secure the win.

    What an exciting time in Tufts Athletics. Junior Mitchell Black won an NCAA Championship in the 800 this past weekend at the NCAA Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championships while women’s basketball advanced to their second consecutive “Final Four” by knocking off undefeated and defending national champion FDU-Florham. The baseball and softball teams both have busy schedules while on their spring break trips, while men’s and women’s lacrosse both have non conference action this week before returning to conference play this weekend. Men’s and women’s tennis are both on the west coast for their spring break trips with a few matches on the schedule this week.
  • Men's Tennis Picks Up Convincing Win Over Denison in First Match of Spring Season

    The Tufts men’s tennis team opened their spring 2015 campaign with a win, taking on Denison in Claremont, California in their first match of the spring semester. The Jumbos won in all three doubles positions, in addition to winning in five of the six singles positions.
  • Men's Tennis Opens Spring Season in California Monday Afternoon

    After a four and a half month break, and a trip across the country, the Tufts men’s tennis team is ready to open their spring season on Monday and are hoping for a dominating spring after an off-season of hard work. The men start play against Denison on Monday afternoon in Claremont, California.
  • Cary and Gupte Finish as Runner-up in B Flight of Boston Men's Tennis Invitational

    Junior Nick Cary and freshman Rohan Gupte of the Tufts men's tennis team were the runner-up in the B flight of the Boston Invitational hosted by the Jumbos on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Men's Tennis Hosts Middlebury, BU in Individual and Doubles Action

    The Tufts University men's tennis team is hosting Middlebury College and Boston University in singles and doubles play this weekend. First round play was completed in A and B flights on Saturday.
