Tufts Men's Tennis Wins All Six Singles Matches to Earn 7-2 NESCAC Victory Over Hamilton

Jay Glickman had a #3 singles victory for the Jumbos

MEDFORD - Visiting Hamilton College won two out of three in doubles, but the Tufts men's tennis team rallied to win all six singles matches for a 7-2 NESCAC victory at Voute Courts on Sunday.

Tufts was trailing 2-1 after doubles play. The Jumbo middle pair of freshman Nick Telkedzhiev (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) and senior tri-captain Mark Westerfield (Menlo Park, CA) were the only home pair to win, 8-5. Hamilton's #1 of James Oliver and Jordan Petit, and their #3 duo of Jon Franzel with Ian Antonoff both posted 8-6 victories.

Despite their difficulties in doubles, the Jumbos rolled in singles play. They lost just one set, and won convincingly in most of the matches. Senior Ben Barad (San Rafael, CA) gave up just one game in the #2 match. Senior tri-captain Andrew Lutz (Baltimore, MD) and freshman Rob Jacobson (Winnetka, IL) lost just two games in the #4 and #6 matches, respectively.

The win is the first in NESCAC play this season for Tufts, who improve to 6-3 overall and 1-2 in the league. It also stops a two-match losing streak. The Continentals fall to 4-6 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

Tufts is off until next Sunday when they play a pair of conference matches at Connecticut College (10 am) and at Wesleyan (3 pm). Hamilton hosts mid-week non-league action against Hobart on Wedneday at 4 pm.
