Men's Soccer Ranked #1 in United Soccer Coaches Pre-season National Poll

MEDFORD - The defending NCAA champion Tufts University men's soccer team is ranked #1 in the United Soccer Coaches Pre-season national poll for Division III released earlier this month.

Head coach Josh Shapiro's Jumbos finished the 2018 campaign undefeated (18-0-3) including a 2-1 victory over Calvin College in the NCAA Division III Championship game. Tufts won the national title for the third time in the last five seasons, including 2014 and 2016.

All-Americans Joe Braun and Gavin Tasker along with New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Conference picks Biagio Paoletta and Brett Rojas lead the return of the Jumbos in 2019. Tasker and senior Tanner Jameson are the team's co-captains.

Tufts opens the new year next Tuesday night (Sep. 3) at home against Framingham State University under the lights at Bello Field starting at 7 pm. The full Tufts men's soccer schedule is here.

The Jumbos are the only NESCAC team in the United Soccer Coaches Top 10. Amherst at #13 and Connecticut College at #23 are the other conference teams ranked among the United Soccer Coaches preseason top 25.
