MEDFORD, Mass. – Junior Ben Connelly of the Tufts University men's lacrosse team has been named as one of the 10 members of the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association D3 Team of the Week, as announced by the association Tuesday.
This is Connelly's first such honor, although he was named to the All-NESCAC, All-New England, and All-American teams last season as a sophomore.
Connelly is off to a fast start this year, leading the team in points (20), goals (11), and assists (9). He picked up the majority of those this past week in two wins over Keene State and Stevens. Against Keene he scored six goals and had one assist in the 24-10 win and then on Saturday against Stevens he recorded four goals and five assists as the Jumbos picked up the 16-7 victory.
Connelly currently leads the NESCAC in assists, is second in points, and third in goals. Last season, he finished fourth on the team in points and goals and was tied for second in assists.
Connelly and the Jumbos are in action next on Saturday when they host Colby here in Medford.
