Three-time All-NESCAC selection Tom Derosa

MEDFORD - For the third straight season, the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's hockey coaches have selected Tufts forward Tom Derosa (Charlestown, MA) as one of the top players in the league by virtue of his placement on the 2011 All-Conference second team today.

Derosa transferred to Tufts in 2008 after his freshman season at Merrimack College. In his first season at Tufts (2008-09), he earned All-NESCAC second team honors and then repeated the feat as a junior in 2009-10. He is the first three-time All-NESCAC recipient during the NESCAC era (2001-11) at Tufts.

With the conference championship entering the semi-final and championship round at Williams this weekend, Derosa is the #4 scorer in the league after finishing with 11 goals and 21 assists for 32 points. The 21 assists are tied for third-most in NESCAC, while he is tied for seventh in power play scoring (3-7-10).

Derosa finished his three-year Tufts career with 91 points (41 goals, 50 assists) in 72 games. He led the Jumbos in scoring this year, last year (15-16-31) and in 2008-09 (15-13-28).

In nine NESCAC games, Derosa scored points in seven including a goal and an assist in contests against Amherst and Wesleyan. In 19 league games overall, which include dates against ECAC East Division schools, he is tied for third among NESCAC players with 24 points on six goals and 18 assists. The 18 assists are second-ranked.
