BREWSTER – The Tufts University golf team improved its score by 10 strokes on the second day of the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship on Moday to finish in 12th place overall.
The Jumbos' four-best scores totaled to 323 strokes on Monday. Tufts had shot 333 as a team on Sunday. Their two-day tournament total of 656 was three strokes behind 11th-place Salem State (653). Tufts moved up one spot after being in 13th place through Sunday's first round.
Sophomore Mac Bredahl led Tufts on Monday with a four-over 76, while junior Harry Theodore had his second round in a row in the 70's at 77. Sophomore Adam Schwimmer scored third for the Jumbos with an 83. Senior Sanjay Mukherjee's 87 was the final Tufts score to count.
Theodore, who had a 79 on Sunday, combined for a 156 (+12) that was tied for 12th individually. Bredahl was also tied for 12th out of the 114 total golfers at the NEIGA event with a 156 (80-76) .
Babson College, which led by 10 strokes after one round, added five strokes to their lead on Monday and won going away with two-day score of 589. Johnson & Wales was second (604). A total of 22 teams competed.
The Beavers' Nicholas Gianelos won individual medalist honors with a one-over 145 tournament total (73-72).
This was the final competition of the fall season for the Jumbos. They will resume ther 2019-20 season in the spring.
