WILLIAMSTOWN – The Tufts University golf team tied for 10th place out of 25 teams at the annual Williams Fall Invitational played at Taconic Golf Club on Sunday.
After the Jumbos' four-best scores added to 309 strokes on Saturday, Tufts improved by a stroke to 308 on Sunday. Their 617 team total was tied with Johnson & Wales and Western New England for 10th. That trio was 10 strokes behind eighth-place Williams College and Hamilton College, who both had 607 tournament totals.
Senior co-captain Brandon Karr was low man for the Jumbos again with a four-over 75 on Sunday. His tournament total of 148, including Saturday's 73, was tied for 12th individually.
Babson College had a team score of 288 to take over first place for the tournament on Sunday. Their 588 final total edged runner-up Williams College (589), who had two teams in the field. The University of Rochester was a close third with a 591 team score.
Hamilton's Jack Habeeb and Williams' Sam Goldenring tied for first place individually, both scoring two-day 141s.
Tufts was fourth among NESCAC teams this weekend, behind Williams, sixth-place Trinity and Hamilton. The Jumbos will look to be fourth or better next weekend when they host the NESCAC Qualifier at Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland, Mass. The top four teams will advance to the conference championship tournament in the spring.
