Golf Moves Up to 8th Place Finish at Duke Nelson Invitational

Brandon Karr shot 74 Sunday as Tufts moved into a top 10 finish.

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Sophomore Mac Bredahl shot 70 on Sunday as the Tufts University golf team improved to an eighth-place finish at the 36th Annual Duke Nelson Invitational hosted by Middlebury College.

The Jumbos, who were tied for 11th on Saturday, moved up three places in Sunday's final team standings. Their four-best scores today totaled to 296 strokes, 14 better than yesterday (310). The Jumbos' 296 was the fifth-best team score of the day.

Tufts' 606 two-day team total was four strokes behind seventh-place Johnson & Wales (602).

Senior co-captain Brandon Karr and sophomore Travis Clauson both shot 74s Sunday to score for Tufts. Junior Harry Theodore had a 78 to rank fourth for the Jumbos.

Bredahl finished tied for 13th individually with a 147 two-day total. His 70 was Sunday's fourth-best round. Clauson (75-74-149) was also in the top 20 overall by tying for 18th.

NYU won the team title with a 291-288-579 scoring line. Runner-up Williams College scored a Sunday-best 285 to finish second with a 589 team score, 10 strokes back.

Middlebury's Jeffrey Giguere won the individual medalist honors with a 142 tournament total, shooting 70 on Saturday and 72 today.

Tufts will continue its schedule at the Williams Fall Invitational next weekend.
