Golf 4th After Rain-Shortened First Day at NESCAC Championship

Alex Honigford's 39 nine-hole score led Tufts Saturday.

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Tufts University golf team is in fourth place out of four teams after day one at the 2019 NESCAC Men's Golf Championship Saturday at Middlebury College's Ralph Myhre Golf Course.

Saturday's start was delayed to 3 pm due to rain and only nine holes were played. Hamilton College leads with a 144 four-best score, followed by host Middlebury (145), Trinity (149) and the Jumbos (159).

Sophomore Alex Honigford led Tufts with a 39 on Saturday which is tied for 16th individually. Senior Justin Feldman and sophomores Henry Hughes and Harry Theodore all shot 80s to score for Tufts. Junior Brandon Karr hit 81 for the Jumbos.

Trinity's Will Rosenfield leads the individuals after one day with a 34. Four five-man teams and four individual qualifiers make up the 24-man field.

Day two on Sunday will begin at 11 am with 18 holes played.
