NORTH DARTMOUTH – Sophomore Alex Honigford tied for fourth individually and the Tufts University golf team was 10th at the Lafrance Hospitality Invitational held at Allendale Country Club on Friday and Saturday.
As a team Tufts scored identical 324's on the two days for a tournament total of 648. They were five strokes behind ninth-place Western New England, which came in at 323-320-643. The Jumbos were seven ahead of 11th-place Farmingdale State (327-328-655).
After shooting two-over 74 on Friday, Honigford had a 78 under less than ideal conditions on Saturday. His two-day 152 was +8 and ranked behind only individual medalist Gavin Dugas from Husson (73-74-147), second-place Ryan Zogby from Western New Engalnd (76-74-150) and third-place Ryan Burrill of Roger Williams (77-74-151).
Freshman Adam Schwimmer scored for Tufts on both days including an 80 on Saturday. His two-day 164 was in the top 40 out of 75 players in the tournament.
Host Mass.-Dartmouth won the tournament with a 307-316-623 scoring line. Husson was the runner-up at 321-307-628.
Tufts will compete at the 2019 NESCAC Championship at Middlebury College next weekend (Apr. 27-28).
