BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Tufts volleyball team closed out tournament play in the Barker Chevrolet Classic at Illinois Wesleyan with a 3-2 win over Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Sophomore Heather Holz was named to the All-Tournament team.

Both the Jumbos and the Titans were receiving votes in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association national poll. With the win the Jumbos improve to 7-4 on the season. The Titans are 8-9 after the loss.
The Jumbos took an early lead in the match with a 25-22 win in the first set. The Titans evened things up taking set two, 25-18. Tufts responded with a 25-20 win in set three, but once again the Titans evened things up with a 25-22 win in set four. The Jumbos won a close 15-13 set five to take the match, 3-2.
Junior Mackenzie Bright was the offensive leader for the Jumbos, finishing with 13 kills for the Jumbos. Sophomore Christina Nwankpa finished with 12 kills and five blocks and Holz added 11 kills and nine blocks for the Jumbos. Senior captain Alex Garrett finished with 22 digs, and junior Angela Yu and sophomore Ginny Ulichney each added 15 while junior Katie Zheng turned in 14. Yu took care of the setting for the Jumbos, finishing with a season-high 42 assists and also added four blocks to her efforts.
The match with the Titans wrapped up tournament play for both teams. The Jumbos will be back in action on Tuesday night when they host UMass-Boston with a 7 pm scheduled start. The Titans take the court on Wednesday when they host Wisconsin-Whitewater for a 7 pm start.
