Kelly Brennan continued her stellar sophomore season with 14 kills and 24 digs
WATERVILLE, ME - Tufts sophomore outside hitter Kelly Brennan (Burr Ridge, IL) finished with 14 kills and a match-high 24 digs to help Tufts University battle back for a 3-1 win over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference volleyball Saturday.
Brennan had a 46-percent attack rate (just one error) in helping the Jumbos improve to 10-5 overall and 5-1 in the conference. Tufts took a 22-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-9 win.
Sophomore Isabel Kuhel (Brisbane, CA) and senior tri-captain Kiersten Ellefsen (Goshen, NY) both had seven kills for Tufts. Senior tri-captain Kendall Lord (LaJolla, CA) dished 41 assists and added 10 digs, while sophomore Juliana Goodbar (Berkeley, CA) had two service aces and three blocks, and junior Virginia Clay (Santa Clara, CA) had 11 digs and two aces.
Colby first-year outside hitter Natalie Roy (Los Altos, CA) had a collegiate-high 18 kills and added 12 digs for the Mules (8-6 overall, 1-4 NESCAC). Kate Pleasants (Virginia Beach, VA) added 31 assists and 16 digs, Maggie Taylor (Washington, DC) smacked eight kills and had 13 digs, and Emily Varni (Manhattan Beach, CA) had four aces.
After the match, Tufts traveled down the coast of Maine to Bowdoin College for a 6 pm match against the Polar Bears.
