Volleyball's Lord, Kuan Receive 2011 Honorable Mention All-America Recognition From AVCA
MEDFORD - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its 2011 All-America recipients on Tuesday and two Jumbos earned Honorable Mention honors. Junior setter Kendall Lord (LaJolla, CA) and senior libero Audrey Kuan (Los Altos, CA) both received the first national honors of their careers.
Both Lord and Kuan were announced as All-Region selections by the AVCA last week. Lord was also named New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Co-Player of the Year, along with All-NESCAC First Team. Kuan was selected to the All-NESCAC Second Team for the second straight year.
Lord led the NESCAC with 10.47 assists for the 2011 season and averaged 0.41 service aces per set, 3.14 digs per set and 0.52 blocks per set. Kuan capped her season with 43 service aces and had 508 digs to average 4.53 per set and lead the Jumbos.
Coach Cora Thompson's team finished the 2011 season 26-6 overall and 9-1 in conference play, placing second in the NESCAC regular-season standings. Lord and Kuan helped the Jumbos to their fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. They made it to the second round of the NCAA Championship by coming from behind to beat Roger Williams in first-round play.
