Mike Salem is in his fourth season as an assistant coach for the Tufts University women's cross country and track & field program. He joined the Jumbos in 2014.
In addition to his work with the team, Salem recently completed his fourth year as an advisor to Tufts' FIT pre-orientation program. He was also the interim director of Club Sports at Tufts from March-October 2017. Mike recently completed his graduate studies at Northeastern University.
Originally from Sutton, Mass., Salem is a 2009 gradudate of Boston University. While at BU, Coach Salem competed in the shot put, discus and javelin events for the men's track and field team and earned the program's Scholar-Athlete Award for the 2008-2009 academic year. He was a also member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee from 2007 to 2009, and was named to the America East Conference Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll in 2006 and again in 2007.
For two years prior to coming to Tufts, he served as the head women's track & field coach at Bridgewater State University (BSU). Prior his stint at BSU, Salem was an associate track & field coach at Lewis and Clark College in Oregon during the 2011-12 season. After graduating from BU, he served as an assistant at Swarthmore from 2009-11.
