|Kiara Rose dominated at No. 6 singles, winning 6-0, 6-1|
WATERVILLE, Maine - The sixth-ranked Jumbos women's tennis team bounced back from an earlier defeat on Sunday, beating NESCAC foe Colby 9-0. The match was the second of the day that the Jumbos played in Waterville, falling to #1 Emory 6-3 earlier in the day.
Lauren Louks and Patricia Obeid kicked things off for the Jumbos in the No. 2 doubles match, taking down Colby's Gabriela Venditti and Callie Nesbitt 8-3. Tufts pair Kat Wiley and Zoe Miller earned their second doubles victory of the day, following up an earlier win by beating Maddie Lupone and Jamie Pine 8-1 at No. 3.
Louks kept rolling in singles play, with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 over Nesbitt in the No. 2 match. Tufts' Miller dropped only one game against Gabriela Venditti 6-0, 6-1, at No. 3. Karamercan, #21 in ITA rankings, took down Lydia Vendetti 7-6, 6-0 (2) at No. 1.
Wiley wrapped up a strong overall individual day in the No. 4 contest, defeating Colby's Tsai. Jumbos junior Julia Keller controlled the No. 5 match against Lupone, earning another 6-0, 6-0 win for Tufts.
Kiara Rose looked strong at No. 6, besting Isha Banerjee 6-0, 6-1 to wrap up 9-0 sweep on the afternoon.
Head coach Kate Bayard's Jumbos continues play next Saturday, April 14, when they travel to take on NESCAC opponent Wesleyan (Conn.) at 2:30. The Mules are back in action April 14 as well, when they play Connecticut College.
