|Title:||Program Development / Technical Analysis|
Doug Boyd joins Tuft’s Swimming as its first Director of Program Development and Technical Analysis. He brings his current career as founder of Swim Fever LLC, a private technique and swim consulting business in Boston to the table for the Jumbos in a unique role.
He has achieved outstanding success in his career as both a swimmer and coach. As a swimmer, he was a high school and college All-American. Boyd represented the United States on the Pan Pac Championship team in 1989 and in the World University Games in both 1987 and 1991. He was a USA swimming National Team member from 1989-1992, which included when he was ranked fourth in the world in the 50 freestyle in 1990.
His coaching resume is even more impressive, starting as an assistant coach at Indiana University and LSU. For eight years, he was the head coach of University of California, San Diego, in that time he was named the 1998 Division III Coach of the year. His teams achieved top three finishes thirteen times and produced sixteen NCAA Champions. His next stops were at Rice University and Michigan, where he was the Head Coach and Women’s Sprint Coach respectively. At both these programs he produced Division I All-Americans. His stint as the Associate Head Coach at Texas A&M produced fifty-eight NCAA All-Americans and six top-fifteen team finishes.
