Jumbos Earn Team And Individual Academic Awards For 2010-11 From CSCAA

MEDFORD - The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently released the 2011 Scholar All-America Team and Individual Awards. The Tufts University women's swimming & diving team was one of the most-recognized programs in the nation.

Teams must hold an average cumulative grade point average (gpa) of 3.0 or higher in the fall and winter/spring semesters to receive the team award. The Tufts Women are ranked 19th in the country with a cumulative gpa of 3.45, which was third among New England Small College Athletic Conference schools.

Meeting the stringent criteria of the CSCAA, 2011 graduate Megan Kono (LaGrange, IL) received Individual Scholar All-America accolades by posting above a 3.5 cumulative gpa and qualifying for last year's NCAA Championships.

To receive the Individual Scholar All-America Honorable Mention award, athletes must post a 3.5 gpa or higher and hit the NCAA "B" Standard in their respective event. Tufts women honored in this category were Christine Garvey (West Chester, PA), Sami Bloom (Wilton, CT), K.J. Kroetch (Lafayette, CA), Jenny Hu (Oakland, CA) and Mia Greenwald (Park City, UT).
