Women's Squash Picks Up 9-0 Win Over Boston University Saturday Afternoon

Radhika Joshi won in the seventh spot for the Jumbos on Saturday.

BELMONT, Mass. – The No. 17 Tufts women's squash team picked up a 9-0 win over visiting Boston University at the Belmont Hill School on Saturday afternoon.  The match was the last of the regular season for the Jumbos, as they now prepare for the College Squash Association Team Nationals. 

With the win the Jumbos improve to 13-6 this season. 

Freshman Julie Yeung played the closest match of the day in the first position, falling in the first game but coming back to win in four games, 4-11, 11-9, 14-12, 11-5.  In the second position, junior Zarena Jafry needed just three games to top Lauren Ferreira-Cesar, 11-1, 11-4, 11-1.  Junior Hannah Burns picked up a three game win over Anisha Nawalrai Melwani, 11-4, 11-2, 11-2.  

Freshman Chloe Kantor took the courts in the fourth position and picked up a three game win over Normandie Essig, 11-2, 11-6, 11-6, 11-1.  Senior Lauren Banner took on Shelby Bannon in the fifth spot and picked up a three game win, 11-2, 11-5, 11-1.  Junior Chista Irani allowed her Terrier opponent to score just four points across three games as she won in the sixth spot, 11-0, 11-1, 11-3. 

Freshman Radhika Joshi took on Molly Papermaster in the seventh position, and won 11-2, 11-1, 11-0.  In the eighth position junior Sinclair Meggitt needed just three games to top Rose Zhao, 11-5, 11-4, 11-6.  Rounding out the Jumbos lineup was sophomore Katie Deveaux who beat Meghana Patnana 11-1, 11-0, 11-1. 

The Jumbos are back in action this weekend when they head to Harvard for the College Squash Association Team Nationals Friday through Sunday.
