  • Jumbos Lead Academic All-NESCAC Honorees with 140 Spring Athletes

    The 2016 spring sports teams at Tufts University placed 140 athletes on the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Academic Teams released today. That's more than any of the other 10 schools in the conference.

    Senior Amanda Sommi of the Tufts University sailing team was recently recognized as a second team All-New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) crew.
  • Women's Sailing 14th at New England Championship Regatta

    In a disappointing end to their 2015-16 season, the Tufts women's sailing team placed 14th of 16 teams at the Reed Trophy New England Championship on Saturday and Sunday hosted by Yale. The top 11 teams moved on to the Intercollegiate Sailing Association national semi-finals in San Diego next month.

    Temperatures are starting to warm up and so are many Jumbo spring teams. Men’s and women’s lacrosse both have home contests this week. Baseball will host Colby for a three-game series this weekend. Softball will be home midweek before heading to Bates this weekend. Men’s and women’s track and field will be home for the Tufts Sunshine Classic this Saturday.
  • Women's Sailing Places 6th at BU's President's Trophy

    Skipper MaryClaire Kiernan and crew Amanda Sommi won a pair of races and added a second in the A division to lead the Jumbo women's sailing team to sixth overall at the Presidents' Trophy hosted by Boston University on the Charles River Saturday and Sunday.

    Medford has seen some rain and some cold weather, but that won’t slow down our spring teams! Men’s lacrosse, who has spent a great deal of time on the road this year, will return home for two games this week. Women’s lacrosse hits the road on Saturday for a duel with Amherst. Both baseball and softball have NESCAC weekend stints with Trinity on the docket.

    The Jumbo women's sailing team placed 16th out of 18 teams at the Emily Wick Trophy hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday and Sunday.
  • This Week in Tufts Athletics: April 4 - 10

    The biggest event for Tufts Athletics this week was on Monday night when women’s basketball took on Thomas More for the national championship. The Jumbos fell to the Saints 63-51 but had one of the most successful seasons in program history, making it to the title game for the first time. With the big Monday night over, Jumbo nation can focus on a busy week for spring sports teams.

    Poor conditions limited the annual Dellenbaugh Trophy to just five races in two divisions as the Tufts women's sailing team placed 11th out of 18 on Saturday and Sunday at Brown.
  • Women's Sailing Hosts, Places 4th at 37th Duplin Trophy

    The Tufts women's sailing team earned a spot in the final four at the 37th annual Duplin Trophy team race hosted by the Jumbos out of the Bacow Sailing Pavilion on Upper Mystic Lake Saturday and Sunday.

    The athletes might not be in school this week, but it’s still a busy week for Tufts Athletics. Baseball, softball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis are all on spring break trips playing busy schedules all week long. Men’s and women’s lacrosse have midweek contests against Stevenson before taking on Trinity this weekend.

    In their first inter-sectional regatta of the spring, the #12 Tufts women's sailing team took 11th out of 18 teams at St. Mary's College in Maryland on Saturday and Sunday.

    It was a big week for Tufts Athletics, and more spring teams are joining the fun this week. Women’s basketball will be playing in their third consecutive Final Four this weekend. Men’s and women’s swimming and diving will compete at the NCAA Championships. Men’s and women’s lacrosse are both in action again with NESCAC contests on the schedule.

    The Tufts women's sailing team resumed its 2015-16 season at a New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association Team Racing event hosted by Yale on Saturday and Sunday. The Jumbos were third out of five teams.

  • Women's Sailing Wins B Division at Atlantic Coast Championship

    Junior skipper MaryClaire Kiernan and senior crew Andrea Sommi of the Tufts Women's Sailing team won B division as the Jumbos closed their fall season at the Atlantic Coast Championship hosted by St. Mary's College on Saturday and Sunday. Tufts finished 11th of 18 overall.

    Though this week may be somewhat quiet, it’s an important week for those teams that are in action. Football will host Middlebury in their 2015 season finale on Saturday, looking to end their successful season on a winning note. Men’s and women’s cross country will be competing in the NCAA Regional Championships at Connecticut College. Men’s soccer received an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament and will face off with Salisbury in the opening round on Saturday.

    After a busy week in Tufts Athletics, the Jumbos will have a bit of a quieter week this week. Winter sports have officially started practicing and many fall sports are in championship season. Football will hit the road for a trip up to Colby on Saturday.
  • Women's Sailing Qualifies for Atlantic Coast Championship with Eighth at Victorian Urn

    The Tufts Women's Sailing team took the last of eight qualifying spots for the upcoming Atlantic Coast Championship in racing at the Victorian Urn hosted by Harvard on Saturday and Sunday. The Jumbos were eighth out of 15 teams at the regatta.

    The Jumbos are gearing up for one of the biggest weeks of the fall. Football will host undefeated Amherst on Saturday in a battle of two of the leagues best teams. Men’s soccer, women’s soccer and field hockey all have mid week contests that will could impact seeding for the NESCAC Tournament, which all three teams will begin playing in on Saturday. The men’s and women’s cross country teams both head to Wesleyan to race in their conference championship meet.

    Posting their best finish of the fall season thus far, the Tufts Women's Sailing Team was second out of 17 schools at the Mrs. Hurst Bowl hosted by Harvard on Saturday and Sunday.

    A busy two weekends at home are in the books for the Jumbos. Things won’t slow down much this week, but the Jumbos will be busy on the road this weekend. Football travels to Williams, along with field hockey and men’s and women’s soccer. The volleyball team will compete in the New England Challenge hosted by MIT. Men’s tennis will host the Boston Invitational here at Tufts. The golf team will compete in the New England Championships. Women’s sailing and coed sailing both take the water again this week at Harvard and Brown, respectively.

    The revitalized Tufts Women's Sailing team had a second consecutive good weekend with a sixth-place finish out of 19 teams at the Yale Invitational. The Jumbos were fifth at Navy's Invitational last weekend.

    Another big week for the Jumbos teams including Parents Weekend on campus this coming weekend. Football will look to remain undefeated this year, hosting undefeated Trinity on Saturday. men’s soccer, women’s soccer and field hockey all have mid week contests before heading up to Bates for a NESCAC tilt on Saturday. Volleyball has two NESCAC contests on the schedule for the weekend in Cousens Gym.

    The Tufts Women's Sailing Team edged Stanford and South Florida right at the end to take fifth place out of 15 teams at the Navy Fall Invitational over the weekend.

    Weather limited the 2015 New England Women's Single-headed Championship to one day and six races over the weekend. Senior Amanda Sommi of the Tufts Sailing team placed seventh out of 13 competiors overall.

    This week will be a quiet week around Medford but a busy week for our teams! The Jumbos become road warriors this weekend, with contests all week.
