MEDFORD - Three members of the Tufts University women's lacrosse team were named to the 2017 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Region teams announced recently. Senior co-captain Casey Briody, sophomore Dakota Adamec and freshman Emily Games were honored.
Games is one of 16 players recognized on the IWLCA Pilgrim Region first team. Adamec and Briody are both on the 16-member Pilgram Region second team. This is the first IWLCA All-Region honor for all three Jumbos.
One of just three freshmen on the All-Region first team, Games scored 49 goals with 15 assists for 64 points to lead the Jumbos this season. Her 3.27 goals per game and 4.27 points per game lead the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). A NESCAC All-Conferfence first team pick, she tied the school record by scoring eight goals at Williams College on April 5.
Adamec netted 35 goals with six assists for 41 points and was a force on draw controls for head coach Courtney Shute's Jumbos this spring. Her 14 free-position goals were third in the conference and her 49 draw controls were fourth in the league. She scored a season-high five goals against MIT on March 5 and won seven draws at Bates College on April 18.
Briody was the leader of the Jumbo defense in 2017. Her 37 ground balls led the team, were fifth in the league and included a season-high eight at Hamilton on April 8. Her 14 caused turnovers this season included three at Bates. In a fitting end, she scored the first and only goal of her Tufts career at Trinity College with 20 seconds remaining in the NESCAC Championship Quarterfinals on April 29.
The Jumbos concluded the spring with a 10-6 record including 5-5 in the conference.
The IWLCA honored 256 student-athletes in Division III with a selection to one of the eight All-Region teams for 2017. These student-athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on Friday, May 19.
