MEDFORD, Mass. - The Tufts University women's crew team traveled to Saratoga Springs, New York this weekend to compete in the Head of the Fish. The weather held out for the morning races, but the day turned uglier as it went with increasing winds and waves.

The Jumbos had multiple winners on the day. The Novice Women's 8+ first boat came in first for the second year in a row. The boat was driven by freshman Eden Miller and stroked by freshmen Polly Harrington, Eva Elder, Erin Dwyer, Sophia Carroll, Gillian Mehigan, Nina Pittas, and Sophie Bredenkamp, and junior Lauren Drohosky. The second Novice Women's 8+ boat placed second in their category. The crew was made up of freshmen Nina Benites, Paige Brand, Grace Duisberg, Abby Henne, Emma Worple, Kaite DeMario, Danielle Kaden, Courtney Zang, and Leslie Spencer

All three Mixed Quads were medal winners as well. The "A" Quad of seniors Emma Conroy, Elizabeth Lichter, and Andrew MacMillen, and sophomore Paul Gelhaus won their race. The "B" Mixed Quad was up of freshman Charles Cornillie, sophomores Grace Fabrycky and Camden Myles, and junior Nickolas Hartman. And the "C" Quad of freshman Rick Boer, sophomore Laurel Haeger, junior Miriam Weiss, and senior Isaac Mudge placed third in their category.

In the Women's Collegiate Double Tufts sent out four entries. The combo of freshman Eva Elder and sophomore Camden Myles had the best time for the Jumbos.

The Varsity 8+ and Women's Quads were on the water during some of the toughest conditions of the day. The varsity boat as well as the three quad entires all performed admirably.

This was the final race of the fall season for the women's crew team.
