MEDFORD - Sophomore Hannah Foley (Acton, MA) of the Tufts women's basketball team has been selected to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District ® Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Foley is one of eight players in the Northeast Region to earn this honor, including three from NESCAC teams. The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Foley is the leading scorer (12.1 points per game) on the Jumbos, who are undefeated (21-0/7-0 NESCAC) and ranked #5 in the D3hoops.com national poll as of Jan. 28. She was NESCAC Player of the Week on Jan. 7, 2013 and is currently ninth in the NESCAC scoring race. A 5'10" guard, she is fifth in the conference averaging 2.0 three-pointers per game, and her 1.5 steals per game are 12th in the league.
Playing 29 games in her first season as a Jumbo last year, Foley led team with 34 three-pointers. The team advanced to NCAA Round of 16 in 2011-12.
A Dean's List all for all three of her semesters at Tufts, Foley has a 3.62 grade point average as a civil engineering major.
