Co-ed Sailing 1st String Earns 4th Place at Thompson Trophy

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Senior skipper Chris Keller and sophomore crew Juliana Testa finished second in C division racing to lead the Tufts University co-ed sailing team to fourth place out of 17 teams at the Thompson Trophy hosted by Connecticut College on the Thames River Saturday and Sunday.

With 13 races in each of the three divisions, Tufts' C team of Keller and Testa compiled finishes totaling to 82. They were well behind C division winners Jack Parkin and Taylor Kirkpatrick from Standford who had a 36 score. The Tufts pair sailed to a second-place finish in the sixth race and had a third in the ninth start for their best finishes.

In addition to their 82 C score, Tufts totaled 124 in A and 102 in B for a 308 total. They were nine in back of third-place Coast Guard (299) and 15 in front of fifth-place Navy (323).

Stanford won the regatta with a 94-70-36-200 scoring line.

Jumbo senior skipper Cam Holley with classmate Ian Morgan as crew were eighth in B division. They won the fifth start and posted seconds in the seventh and ninth races.

For A's, Tufts was 12th in the division with senior skipper Jackson McCoy on the water with sophomore crew Jacob Whitney. The team earned three fourth-place finishes during the 13 races.
