Men's Cross Country Comes in 9th at Lehigh's Paul Short Invitational

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Tuft's University men's cross country team came in ninth out of 24 teams today at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University. 

Junior Colin Raposo finished first for Tufts and 46th overall with a time of 25:42. Classmates Brian Reaney (25:47) and Hiroto Watanabe (25:54) were next for the Jumbos taking 53rd and 59th place.

The Jumbos finished with a team score of 282 in the eight-kilometer race where the top five finishers' results from each school were used for scoring purposes. Queens University took first place with a score of 64 and was followed by Shippensburg (106) and Carnegie Mellon (138). Tufts was the first of four New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) schools in the race. Connecticut College was 13th, Wesleyan was 18th and Trinity was 19th.

Rounding out Tufts' top five were freshmen Patrick Nero (25:54) and junior Dylan Jones (25:54). Andrew Doherty-Munro (25:55) and Peter Horvath (26:03) were the next two Jumbo runners to finish.

Michael Carnavos, Christian Swenson, and Sam Little also competed.

The team's next meet is Oct. 7 at the All New England Championships at Franklin Park.
