|Justin Brogan earned victories at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles|
CLINTON, N.Y. - The #15 Tufts Jumbos men's tennis team defeated Hamilton College by a score of 6-3 on Sunday morning. The match was held at Hamilton's Margaret Bundy Scott Field House in Clinton, and was one of two matches on the day for the Jumbos men's squad, with half of the team taking on Williams later this afternoon.
Tufts jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after doubles play. Jumbos duo Niko Hereford and Zach Shaff took down Sam Farber and Rob Dotterer in the No. 1 match, 8-6. Ben Biswas and Ross Kamin defeated Continentals pair Tim Derby and Max Zimmerman in the No. 2 match, earning a close 8-7 (2) victory.
Singles play proved to be more competitive, as the two teams split the matches 3-3. Biswas earned his second victory of the afternoon with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Farber at No. 1. Dotterer avenged his earlier doubles loss with a back and forth 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 victory over Shaff at No. 2. Hamilton's Zimmerman bested Tufts freshman Owen Bartok 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 3 tilt.
Scanlon pulled out a victory in three sets over Derby at No. 4, 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-2. Eyad Nagori earned a 6-4, 6-4 victory for the Continentals at No. 5, defeating Armaan Kalra. Brogan followed up his earlier success with a 6-4, 6-4 singles win over Jafar Sharipov at No. 6.
The rest of the Jumbos' squad faces off against Williams later this afternoon at 1:00 p.m. Hamilton returns to action on April 22 when they take on #7 Amherst.
