Men's Squash Downs Boston University 8-1

Cameron Ewan fought for a five-game win at #1

BOSTON - Tufts earned an 8-1 victory over Boston University in men's squash action on Thursday night.

The victory was the second straight for the Jumbos and pushed them over .500 for the season at 9-8 overall. Despite the decisive final score, Tufts had to work for the win with six of the nine matches going more than three games.

Two Tufts wins came in five games. At the top, freshman Cameron Ewan was down 1-0 before posting 11-2 and 11-9 wins to take a 2-1 lead. After BU's Marwan Sallam forced a fifth with an 11-7 score, Ewan won 12-10 to take the match.

In the ninth spot, junior Austin Brush followed the same pattern for his victory. He lost 14-12 in the first, but rallied for a pair of 12-10 wins to take a lead. After losing the fourth he won 11-6 in the fifth.

A third five-game match at #7 between Tufts' John Patrick and BU's Nicholas Carlson went to the Terriers. Patrick led 2-1 before Carlson ran off 13-11 and 12-10 wins to take the match.

Jumbo freshman Matt Memmo lost 11-9 in the first game at #6 before earning 12-10, 11-5, 11-9 wins to take the victory. Freshman Aidan Porges battled out of a 1-1 tie with 11-6, 11-2 wins at #3.

The Jumbos have a busy Saturday with three matches at Wesleyan against the Cardinals, Vassar and Bard to finish their regular season.
