WALTHAM – The Tufts men's squash team closed out a successful opening weekend with a 9-0 blanking of Brandeis on Monday night. The win was the fourth in a row for the Jumbos, who also picked up wins against Boston University, Bryant and Hamilton this weekend.
With the win, the Jumbos move to 4-2 on the season and will take a small break for the Thanksgiving holiday before getting back to action next weekend.
On Monday against the Judges all nine of the Jumbos players won in just three games. Senior co-captain Aditya Advani, who was recently named the NESCAC Co-Player of the Week this past week, took the courts in the first position and topped Michael Jiang, 11-4, 11-6, 11-3. In the second position, rookie Alan Litman allowed Wit Gan to score just 13 points across three games in his 11-2, 11-6, 11-5 win.
Freshman Cameron Ewan picked up a 11-3, 11-8, 11-5 win over Daniel Yao in the third position. Classmate Aidan Porges played in the fourth position for the Jumbos and picked up a win over Ethan Saal, 11-3, 11-5, 11-9. In the fifth position, freshman Imran Trehan won over Ray Jones with scores of 11-3, 11-7, 11-4.
Sophomore Alec Goodrich played in the sixth position for the Jumbos and was able to win over Dunca Lelear, 11-4, 11-7, 11-5. Freshman Matt Memmo played in the seventh position and beat John Goldman, 11-5, 11-3, 11-7. In the eighth position, sophomore John Patrick allowed Sky Golann to score just six points across three games in his 11-2, 11-1, 11-3 win. Rounding out the Jumbos line up was junior co-captain Daniel Fischer who picked up a 11-5, 11-2, 11-1 over Jonathan Dweck.
The Jumbos now have a little over a week of a break from competition, as they take the courts again on December 5th when they travel to take on Haverford and Dickinson.
