LOCKER ROOM AT VALLEY FORUM II GIVES JUMBO HOCKEY COMFORTS OF HOME

MEDFORD -- Since the 2008-09 season, the Tufts University hockey team has enjoyed comfortable surroundings in their home away from home at the Valley Forum II in Malden.

The Jumbos play and practice out of a state-of-the-art locker room, to which they have sole access year-round. After years of transporting their equipment to and from the rink, the accommodations are well-deserved for one of the hardest working teams in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).

With funds raised by the Friends of Tufts Hockey, the locker room was revamped out of an old office at the rink. It includes 30 oak stalls, showers and plasma televisions for video work, among other accoutrements. The room was named the Ben Sands Locker Room and dedicated to the loyal Tufts hockey alum, Tufts Class of 1954, and a former Tufts player and coach who has actively led the support of the Tufts hockey team for years.

The first home game of the 2011-12 Tufts hockey season is Friday, December 2 against Williams.
