MEDFORD - Four members of the 2011 Tufts University field hockey team have been selected to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-New England West Region Teams announced today.
Senior defender Taylor Dyer (Windham, NH) and senior midfielder Lindsay Griffith (Wilmington, DE) are on the First Team. Both are repeat All-Region honorees. Dyer was a First Team pick last year and was on the Second Team in 2009. Griffith was selected to the Second Team last season.
Earning their first All-Region honors are sophomore midfielder Emily Cannon (Atkinson, NH) and junior forward Lia Sagerman (LaJolla, CA), who both made the Second Team for 2011.
Dyer was again one of the region's best defensive players, helping the Jumbos record New England's third-best goals against average with a 0.95 mark. She also became a key offensive contributor on penalty corners and strokes, finishing with six goals and three assists for 15 points.

The Jumbos' average of 3.42 goals per game is fourth best in New England. Griffifth led the way with 23 points on 10 goals and three assists. She scored a hat trick against Springfield College on October 6 and had five goals in 10 NESCAC games.
After a good first season last fall, Cannon emerged as an impact player this season. One of the best ball-strikers on the team and a solid defender, she is a future leader of the Jumbos. Her five assists were second on the squad this fall.
Sagerman had a three-goal game against UMass Dartmouth on September 21 and later in the season put together a three-game stretch in which she scored five times. Overall she tied for the team lead with 10 goals, and led the Jumbos with seven in conference play.
With four All-Region players, Coach Tina McDavitt's Jumbos featured more than anyone in the region except two teams.
