MEDFORD – Seniors Malcolm Nachmanoff and Tommy O'Hara of the Tufts University baseball team are on the 29-man College Division roster which has been set for next Thursday's 44th Annual New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Joe Walsh All-Star Game.
The University Division squad, which is made up of the region's top Division I players, will be announced next week following the completion of conference tournament play.
The College Division team features 13 of the top Division II players in New England and 16 of the top Division III seniors in the region. The squad has players from 22 different schools.
The 2018 NEIBA Joe Walsh All-Star Game is set for 12 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, R.I.
Nachmanoff and O'Hara were NEIBA All-New England first team selections announced this week. Both were also All-New England first team on the D3baseball.com and American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings teams, as well as New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Conference first team.
Nachmanoff was the NESCAC Player of the Year this spring after hitting .412 with seven home runs and 40 runs batted in. He also hit 16 doubles and finished the season with an outstanding .710 slugging percentage. O'Hara, an All-Conference first team honoree for the fourth straight season, led the NESCAC in runs scored and runs batted in this season. He finished the year hitting .347 with five home runs, 46 runs scored and 44 runs batted in.
Head coach John Casey's Jumbos finished 20-17, won the NESCAC East Division for the fifth straight season and played in the conference tournament finals.
