MEDFORD – Senior third baseman Tommy O'Hara and senior right fielder Malcolm Nachmanoff of the Tufts University baseball team have been voted to the All-New England first team by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings, D3baseball.com and the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) this week.
O'Hara and Nachmanoff are two of 15 first team All-New England picks by the ABCA/Rawlings and the NEIBA. They are two of 14 on the D3baseball.com first team. Tufts is one of just three teams in the region with two players honored on the first team by all three of the organizations, and the only NESCAC team to hold that distinction.
ABCA/Rawlings All-Region first-team selections are nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. ABCA/Rawlings All-Americans will be announced on the evening of Thursday, May 24. D3baseball.com's All-America teams will also be announced soon.
Nachmanoff was the NESCAC Player of the Year this spring after hitting .412 with seven home runs and 40 runs batted in. He also hit 16 doubles and finished the season with an outstanding .710 slugging percentage.
O'Hara, an All-Conference first team honoree for the fourth straight season, led the NESCAC in runs scored and runs batted in this season. He finished the year hitting .347 with five home runs, 46 runs scored and 44 runs batted in.
Head coach John Casey's Jumbos finished 20-17, won the NESCAC East Division for the fifth straight season and played in the conference tournament finals.
