Women's Tennis Selected For Four All-Conference Honors

MEDFORD, MA (May 3, 2023) – Jumbos Rachel Cranley, Zoe Kava, and Maddie Suk achieved All-Conference honors, and senior Tilly Rigby won the Senior Sportswoman of the Year Award as the 2023 NESCAC Women's Tennis Awards were announced on Thursday.

Cranley and Kava earned All-Conference second team recognition for singles. The tandem of Cranley and Suk are second team doubles recipients.

Rigby, who did not play this season due to an injury, remained with the team as a student coach and leader. She carries on a Tufts tradition as the eighth winner of the Senior Sportswoman of the Year Award. Previous recipients were Becky Bram (2006), Julia Browne (2011), Lindsay Katz (2013) Samantha Gann (2014), Alexa Meltzer (2017), Tomo Iwasaki (2019) and Patricia Obeid (2021).

Handling a top-of-the-order role in first and second singles during her first collegiate season, Cranley won six matches this spring. The junoir Kava recorded a 15-2 record with matches in first, third, fourth, fifth and sixth singles. She was 9-0 against conference opponents.

Cranley and Suk finished the season as Tufts' top doubles pair and won three times including against the Colby College All-Conference second team duo of Sydney Landau and Sam Riordan.

Head coach Kate Bayard's Jumbos won seven of their 10 conference matches this spring and were the #10-ranked team in the most recent ITA Division III poll.
